There is so much choice, it’s a very affordable hobby and it’s something that you can do either at home or at one of the many courses and social events around the region. The Art Group meets every Thursday from 1.00pm until 4.00pm
Complete beginners are welcome at this drawing and painting class, with mediums in Pencil, Watercolours and Pastels. A very friendly atmosphere – encouragement and guidance are offered.
Choose from a variety of blank pottery which you then paint and design to create a truly unique piece of pottery. All materials are provided plus inspiration and training if needed. When you’ve finished painting your pot, it will be professionally glazed and fired in the kiln.
Try your hand at spinning and hand weaving wool at this Woollen Mill. Discover how wool is produced by a visit to the Dyehouse; see the hanking and doubling machinery, the procedures to the finished product of traditional Welsh tapestry cloth and bedspreads.
Advance notice of an Autumn event – dates to be announced. Join ‘Create and Craft’ TV presenter, teacher and International knitting designer Julie Arnfield-Crowther (Juey) and her lovely assistant, Debbi at this fun packed, crafty, weekend. This event is aimed at all levels of ability from beginner to expert, as Julie will be teaching ‘Extreme knitting’.
Please check available dates. A 3-day course to introduce you to the skills of the Blacksmith. All health and safety equipment is provided and after initial instruction, you will be allowed “hands on” on the third day, to create an interesting artefact. Booking is required via the Bluefoot Forge website
Specialist bespoke training in letter cutting or stone carving. Evening classes and daytime groups can be organised.
If you already have a skill that you could pass on to others, why not start up your own group? You may be surprised at how many people are also interested in taking up a new hobby.
